Completion on Friday!
Friday 5th Feb sees the completion of the purchase of the Castle Boulevard site after a year of searching and almost 10 months of negotiation, planning and fund raising! As we get so close, please pray that the final stages of completion go smoothly.
Looking back on the last 2 years it is amazing to see how God has provided this site in such a prominent location for us to continue the ministries he has entrusted to us. Throughout this process, He is continuing to teach us so much about himself and our need to trust Him in all things.
There is still a long way to go on this journey of faith, so please continue to pray that God is glorified in all aspects of the project.

November Gift Day results
Praise God! Our recent gift day raised the remaining funds to buy the Castle Boulevard site without the need to borrow. We received approximately ?76,000 on the day itself, which when combined with other gifts received over the month takes us up to our target.
We are so grateful to God for his faithful provision for all our needs and we need to continue to look to Him in faith as we make plans for the development of the site.

Next Gift Day and week of prayer
We now only need a further ?200,000 to enable us to purchase the Castle Boulevard without the need to borrow money.
We have a week of prayer beginning on the 22nd November, which culminates in a gift day on Sunday the 29th. Please prayerfully consider how you can contribute to this and help us complete this important milestone.

Our God is a great big God!
At our recent prayer and praise meeting, I was encouraged by the story of a Church that was built during the great depression in the 1930's. It struck me that despite the desperate economic times, God's people were still committed to seeing his name glorified through the establishment of a place dedicated to the gospel. I wish my knowledge of Church history was better than it is, but the little I do know shows me that God is able to work in any and every situation.
It's true that we are living in difficult economic times. If we are not currently directly affected ourselves, we still can't escape the relentless news of job losses, company closures and stock market fluctuations. Financial experts and economists are gaining so much exposure that they are almost becoming A-list celebrities (strange times indeed!).
But it is also true that our God is sovereign over all things and he is not affected by stock market rumours or 'market confidence'. The Bible encourages us time and again to put our trust in the God of history and not the temporary things of this world.
I know that God has a plan for our Church, which he will reveal in his own time for our benefit and his glory. We need to continue to trust him daily, giving thanks for his provision to us and commiting our future to his care.

New Year Update
As we enter 2009, I am reassured by the fact that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for ever" (Heb 13:8).
Whilst the global economic climate continues to be in turmoil and many of the things that seemed so certain a few months ago are now in disarray, we can be sure that God's plans do not change and that he is in control of all our circumstances.
My prayer is that we continue to place our trust in the God who never changes and look to him for guidance for our Church and its future home.
At the end of 2008 the building fund stood at just under ?3 Million and we are grateful to God for his tremendous provision and the generosity of his people. We are also continuing to look for a suitable, affordable site that can accommodate our needs.
Please pray that we will continue to be both patient and diligent in all our efforts and that God will make our paths straight before us.

New term, fresh challenge!
September is always a busy month for Cornerstone, with the end of the summer holiday and the start of the new academic year. This September is particularly significant as it also marks the beginning of our last full academic year at the Bluecoat School in Wollaton. The challenge now feels more real than ever and it is important that we re-focus our efforts on finding a site and raising the funds we need for a new centre for the Church.
At the recent Church weekend, I shared the current situation regarding the building fund and also some example locations that we have discussed recently. The challenge ahead feels more real than ever and the call to prayer is clear.
? There are significant decisions ahead of us ... we need to pray for our elders ? for wisdom, patience, unity.
? We may all have differing opinions and aspirations ... we need to pray that we will submit our minds and wills to God
? This is a change that affects our whole Church family ... we need to pray for our unity, that we will bear with one another in love.
