Home Students

We strongly encourage you to be involved with the Christian Union or other relevant group on your campus during the week, see the links below. This will enable you to focus your time as a student on reaching out with the gospel to students who are not yet Christians. Yet it is vital too to be involved in a local church fellowship, and we’d love to welcome you to be part of God’s people at Cornerstone.

Sunday Services

We meet together as a church at 10:30am and 6:30pm for praise, prayer, teaching, fellowship and much more. Being part of the Sunday services is the foundation of the student work at Cornerstone, and the main time where we can praise God together and learn from his word, the Bible.

After Hours

After Hours meets after the evening service in the Cornerstone Community Room. It’s a great chance to get to know others better. There’s a varied programme of events, and we try to cover topics and issues that aren’t typically looked at in the Sunday services or in CU events. Look at the current term card to see what’s coming up!

After Hours @ Lunch

A few times each term we’ll meet together for a light lunch after the morning service and spend some time looking a particular topic. Also, once per term there is a proper student lunch where we can enjoy amazing food courtesy of the catering team, and it is a great opportunity for Cornerstone students and members of the church congregation to get to know each other better.

The Hospitality Link-Up Scheme

The link up scheme is well established at Cornerstone, but we’re always looking for new people to be involved! We link students with a host family who will invite them round once a term. Students can escape briefly from the pressures of student life, eat real food, sit on a proper sofa, and get to know a few people from the Church better.

One-to-One Bible Reading

We can link students with someone from the congregation, to study the Bible, chat and pray together. This will take place initially for 6 sessions on a weekly/fortnightly basis. Do ask us if this is something you are interested in.

Holiday Mailings

If you’re a regular at Cornerstone, then you’ll receive an exiting envelope from us every holiday. In it there will be a CD with some good Bible teaching on it and a letter from us, plus any extras we might decide to put in. During the term time, we usually send out a weekly email to remind you what’s happening on the Sunday.

Serving

It’s essential to be active in serving in an area on Sundays at church. There are many ways to do this, from setting up to counting the offering. Look out for the ‘How you can serve’ leaflet and think what you can offer.

Pastoral Care

If you’re going through a difficult time or thinking through a complex issue, we’d love to help in anyway we can. Do feel free to speak to any of the student team, and we’ll do our best to help, or introduce you to someone in the church who can help you better.

Graduating

If you’re coming to the end of your time at university, we want to help you prepare as well as possible for the next stage in your life. We run a series of seminars to help you keep Jesus at the centre of your hearts and minds as you step into the exciting but daunting years after university. Look out for more information as it is advertised.

Getting Involved

If you are a student please pick up a student welcome pack to find out more. If you want to be involved in anything above fill in the response slip in the welcome pack, contact the student team or just turn up to After Hours on a Sunday evening. We look forward to meeting you! You can e-mail us at students@cornerstoneuk.org.uk
